McGrath Selected to Continue as Mississippi DOT Executive Director

The Mississippi Transportation Commission unanimously voted Tuesday to appoint Melinda McGrath as executive director of the Mississippi Department of Transportation.McGrath has served since February 2011 as the department’s interim executive director and chief engineer. Prior to that, she served as deputy executive director and chief engineer since August 2008. As the chief engineer, she was the chief technical officer over the Office of Highways and was responsible for the development and execution of all technical policies and procedures.McGrath is a member of the AASHTO Standing Committee on Highways and the AASHTO Standing Committee on Highway Traffic Safety’s Safety Management Subcommittee.

“Melinda has been such an asset to MDOT in all her capacities from the district office to the top level of administration,” Commission Chairman Dick Hall said in a statement. “We, the Mississippi Transportation Commission, know that she will continue to do an excellent job leading this agency and furthering our mission of providing a safe, effective, and efficient inter-modal transportation system.”
