Road Tax would Fund Most-Needed Projects, Supporters say

Tom Warne Report, 2 November 2012
KATV – October 31, 2012

Most of the projects on Arkansas’ recently released most important improvements list would be completed over the next ten years if a proposed temporary half-cent sales tax is approved by voters, supporters said this week. The $1.8 billion highway construction program would largely be paid for by the proposal in Issue 1, a proposed constitutional amendment to appear on the ballot for next Tuesday’s general election.

In a recent poll of very likely voters, 53% supported the sales tax and 42% opposed it.
