Mark Wilson, P.E. and State Traffic Operations Engineer at the Florida Department of Transportation, was appointed as Vice Chair of the AASHTO Standing Committee on Highways Subcommittee on Traffic Engineering on Friday, June 29.
Wilson was appointed to the position by AASHTO President Kirk Steudle and will serve a two-year term as Vice Chair.
The Subcommittee on Traffic Engineering is responsible for: assessing the effectiveness of traffic control practices and devices in terms of public safety, convenience, and cost; identifying and reporting to the Standing Committee on Highways on any federal regulatory mandates of concern; investigating and reporting on advancements in methods and equipment that reduce cost, lower energy consumption, improve motorist guidance, and lessen accidents; and developing recommended improvements in standards and guidelines contained in the Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
