Jeffrey Parker announced Tuesday he is resigning as interim commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
Parker’s departure isn’t entirely surprising, the Hartford Courant reported, since Gov. Dannel Malloy made clear soon after winning office in November that he’d bring in a new leader to run the $1 billion agency.
But Parker, at Malloy’s invitation, has been staying on as interim commissioner until a replacement is chosen. It’s unclear whether the resignation announcement signals that Malloy is closer to naming a new DOT chief, or whether Malloy will promote Deputy Commissioner Al Martin to run operations in the meantime.
