Midwest Partnership Establishes Priorities

By Kevin Kennedy

The Midwestern Pavement Preservation Partnership (MPPP) — the first partnership of its kind to be established for the furtherance of the practice of pavement preservation — held its annual meeting in Des Moines in late October 2010. Highlights of this year’s conference included various technical presentations, member and vendor displays, an equipment show, and breakout sessions to identify and prioritize common issues amongst members.

The MPPP is composed of state and provincial DOTs from the U.S. and Canada, representatives from private industry, and local governments.  Continuing education continues to be a focus of the MPPP. Attendees at the conference this year were able to hear technical presentations on a wide range of topics including, but not limited to: crack seal performance specifications, concrete slab jacking, emulsion basics, warm mix asphalt, and the pavement management roadmap.
