The U.S. Federal Highway Administration has released the latest issue of Traffic Volume Trends, which is a monthly report based on hourly traffic count data reported by the states. According to the report, travel on all roads and streets decreased by 1.4 percent (-3.5 billion vehicle miles) in March 2011 as compared with March 2010. Travel for the month is estimated to be 250.4 billion vehicle miles. Cumulative travel for 2011 is down by 0.1 percent (-0.8 billion vehicle miles). The cumulative estimate for the year is 688.9 billion vehicle miles of travel.
