Grasser Appointed to Lead NTPEP Panel; Milanes Selected for Wireless Committee

AASHTO Journal, 6 January 2012

AASHTO President Kirk Steudle announced last week that Daniel Grasser, Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s administrator for transportation system development, has been selected to serve a two-year term as chairman of the association’s National Transportation Product Evaluation Program Oversight Committee. The committee pools the professional and physical resources of AASHTO member departments to test proprietary materials, products, and devices of common interest. The primary goals of the program are to provide cost-effective evaluations for the states by eliminating duplication of testing by the states, and duplication of effort by the manufacturers that provide products for evaluation. Its website is available at www.ntpep.org.

Steudle announced this week the selection of Ferdinand Milanes, chief of radio communications for the California Department of Transportation, to serve on the Special Committee on Wireless Communications Technology.

The special committee monitors and develops wireless and electronic technologies for applicability to highway maintenance operations, transportation security, and intelligent transportation systems.
