AASHTO Journal, 13 July 2012

Nebraska Department of Roads now has a new director and state engineer, Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman announced on Monday.

Randy Peters, Deputy Director of NDOR and registered professional engineer, will take over August 4 as current Director Monty Fredrickson retires (see related story: bit.ly/nebraskaCEO).

“I’m pleased Randy will be the new Director of the Department of Roads,” Gov. Heineman said in a statement. “Randy has served as an excellent Deputy Director. He understands the various aspects of the department. He works closely with federal officials and our other partners across the state. Randy has the knowledge, professionalism, and experience to be a strong director.”

Peters has served as deputy director since 2009. He began his career at NDOR in 1977 as a photo-log technician in the Transportation Planning Division. His experience is broad. Peters worked 10 years in planning, 10 years in roadway design, 10 years as state traffic engineer, and two years as planning and project development engineer before serving as deputy director.
