After months of preparation, the team hired by the Vermont Agency of Transportation to rehabilitate the historic Checkered House Bridge, moved a 1928-era truss 12.5 feet to widen and improve the bridge for 21st century travel needs.
It took about 25 workers one and a half days to complete the task.
Immediately after the move work began to install new steel extensions that will reconnect the north truss back to the 1928 bridge.
