Senate to Take Up Continuing Resolution

AASHTO Journal, 21 September 2012

The Senate is scheduled to vote on the six-month Continuing Resolution, which will fund the federal government through March 27, 2013. The vote could happen as early as this afternoon or as late as Sunday, depending on procedure. The vote follows the passage of the bill by the House last week by a vote of 329-91.

The CR extends current discretionary appropriations for that six-month period. One noticeable detail of the CR was that it only funds the transportation programs at the FY 2012 levels, not the slightly higher MAP-21 levels (see related story: bit.ly/AJhouseCR).

American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ Executive Director John Horsley wrote to both House and Senate leadership last week, urging both chambers to make sure MAP-21 funding levels are honored moving forward.
