Delaware DOT Launches Free Android Traffic App in Time for Holidays

AASHTO Journal, 7 December 2012

The Delaware Department of Transportation has launched an Android application to help motorists get around the state safely. The app launched late last month, just in time for the busy holiday season.

DelDOT’s new app helps motorists to drive safely, better plan their traffic routes, and stay on top of all the latest traffic news. Specifically, the app allows users to view streaming video from traffic cameras, see advisories for accidents and other roadway incidents, get updated on travel delays, know the current average speed of roadways, get virtual travel times, learn about lane restrictions and road closures, see Red Light Enforcement camera locations, get Roadway Weather Information, and listen to WTMC 1380 AM (DelDOT’s travel information radio station).

The app has been well-received by public.

“Super easy to use and includes a direct link to the AM radio feed,” one user said in a review of the app. “View live traffic from cameras at intersections, too. Good stuff, DelDOT!”

DelDOT’s free travel app for Android is available at the Google Play store at bit.ly/DelDOTapp. DelDOT says an iPhone version of its app will be available soon at the Apple Store.
