Panel of Transportation Groups to Participate in Webinar on Eco-Logical Implementation and Funding Opportunities

AASHTO Journal, 15 February 2013

Representatives from various transportation groups will be participating in a webinar next month on implementation of Strategic Highway Research Program 2 (SHRP2) product Eco-Logical.

Eco-Logical, which “represents a vision for an infrastructure development process that endorses ecosystem-based mitigation through integrating plans and data across agency and disciplinary boundaries,” is currently one of this year’s major SHRP2 products in the area of capacity. Eco-Logical, a nine-step approach that uses various tools and templates to meet both ecosystem and transportation goals, helps state transportation departments save time and money while preserving the natural environment.

The webinar will feature panelists from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Federal Highway Administration Office of Project Development and Environmental Review, transportation agencies that have applied the Eco-Logical approach, and technical support from the Transportation Research Board. These panelists will cover what constitutes a regional ecosystem framework, examples of activities that can be funded in solicitations, qualifications for demonstration of efforts to implement the program, examples of Eco-Logical relating to transportation planning, and a host of other issues.

The webinar is scheduled to take place Tuesday, March 5 from 2 to 3 p.m. EST.

Registration for the webinar is available here. Additional information on the Eco-Logical SHRP2 product is available here.
