TRB to Host Webinar on SHRP2 Streamlining Product

AASHTO Journal, 21 June 2013

The Transportation Research Board is now accepting registration for a free webinar on a second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2) product aimed at streamlining coordination of public agency and rail procedures to avoid delays, resolve conflicts, and improve overall outcomes. The webinar is part of TRB’s SHRP2 Tuesdays webinar series, which highlights a SHRP2 product every other Tuesday.

The webinar, to be held July 9 from 2-3:30 p.m. EDT, will focus on SHRP2’s “DOT and Railroad Collaborations: Best Practices for Expediting Agreements and Successfully Delivering Projects (R16).” Webinar attendees will participate in discussions to: understand highway agency and railroad perspectives so as to encourage collaboration and expedite project delivery; learn about existing successful practices between highway agencies and railroads that can be altered and adopted to address specific state and rail requirements; learn how to implement partnering and continuous improvement processes for long-term success in expediting coordination and highway-railroad project delivery; describe research outcomes and products from the R16 project and its benefits; and increase knowledge of implementation strategies, tactics, and opportunities.

StarIsis Corporation’s Shobna Varma and Federal Highway Administration’s Joe Taylor will present during the webinar. TRB’s Jerry DiMaggio will moderate the event. Professional Development Hours will be offered to Professional Engineers who register for and attend the webinar.

Additional information on the webinar, including registration details, is available here. Additional information on SHRP2 is available at SHRP2.transportation.org.
