State DOTs Work Together To Support Unemployed Veterans

AASHTO Journal, 26 July 2013

The Indiana Department of Transportation and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet joined forces this week to sponsor a job fair attended by approximately 200 military veterans, National Guard or Reserve members, and their families. The job fair at the National Guard Armory in New Albany, Ind., was held in partnership with the Indiana National Guard, WorkOne, Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs, and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Kentucky and Indiana are working together to build the Ohio River Bridges project, which will build two bridges and the highways that connect them. Kentucky is responsible for the Downtown Crossing and Indiana responsible for the East End Crossing.

The job fair on Tuesday featured as many as 50 vendors, including INDOT and KYTC and the developers of the Bridges project – WVB East End Partners and Walsh Construction. The fair also included a number of other contractors and subcontractors who provided information about job opportunities.
