The U.S. Department of Transportation on Wednesday awarded the Colorado Department of Transportation with $110 million in recovery funds for highways damaged in September floods, according to a report from Northern Colorado Business Report.
The funds are part of the $450 million emergency road repair funds allocated for flood recovery in legislation passed in October.
Initial reports estimated about $500 million in damage to Colorado roads. U.S. DOT gave CDOT $5 million in emergency funds shortly after flooding stopped.
A report from the Colorado Springs Independent notes that many Colorado roads remain damaged months after flooding ended.
