The District of Columbia Department of Transportation on Tuesday announced that DDOT Director Terry Bellamy and Chief Engineer Ronaldo “Nick” Nicholson will be leaving the agency “by the end of April.”
Bellamy joined DDOT as Associate Director for the Transportation Operations Administration in March 2008, then taking over as Deputy Director of Operations in April 2010. He was appointed to his current leadership role in July 2011 by Mayor Vincent Gray. Before joining DDOT, Bellamy served the Arlington County (Virginia) Transportation Department and held other transportation leadership positions in North Carolina.
“I would like to thank Mayor Gray and City Administrator Allen Y. Yew for having the foresight and courage in making transportation a priority in the District of Columbia,” Bellamy said in a statement.
Nicholson came to DDOT in April 2010, working on projects such as the 11th Street Bridge and DC Streetcar projects. Prior to his position at DDOT, Nicholson worked on several other projects in the Greater Washington area such as the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and the Springfield Interchange projects.
DDOT has yet to name successors to Bellamy or Nicholson.
