TRB Executive Director to Retire

AASHTO Journal, 11 April 2014

Transportation Research Board and National Academies officials announced this week that TRB Executive Director Robert Skinner, Jr. will step down at the end of January 2015.

Skinner, who has spent 30 years at the National Academies, has served as TRB executive director since 1994, where he focused on a range of research and policy issues and transportation challenges and solutions. Prior to his current role, Skinner served as the director of TRB’s Studies and Special Programs Division (from 1986 to 1994) and, before that, as TRB senior program officer.

“I have been a part of the TRB family for over 30 years, and it has been a wonderful journey, all the more so because of the terrific staff members, volunteers, and other transportation professionals with whom I have had the pleasure to work,” Skinner said in a statement. “TRB and the National Academies are great organizations and great places to work.”

The National Academies announced that it intends to form a search committee to find a replacement for Skinner upon his January departure.
