AASHTO Journal, 10 April 2015

In an “AASHTO Up Close” video, Transportation TV this week tells viewers about the AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory.

That facility in Frederick, Md., provides accreditation to labs across the nation that test such core transportation construction materials as sand, gravel, concrete and steel.

Those labs test to make sure the products meet industry standards, but one of the jobs of AMRL is to assess labs to assure they are performing properly.

The AASHTO Up Close series reports on the people and operations of the association that works on behalf of state departments of transportation. This one steps away from AASHTO’s Washington, D.C., headquarters to introduce the AMRL.

This and hundreds more TTV video reports are available at the Transportation TV website.
