South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley appointed Christy Hall to serve as acting secretary of the state Department of Transportation, effective July 2, the second time Hall has stepped in to head the agency after the departure of a secretary.

Hall, who has been the agency’s deputy secretary for engineering since May 2014, steps in following the resignation last month of former secretary Janet Oakley.

Hall had briefly served as acting SCDOT secretary in February-May 2014. Before that, Hall was deputy secretary of finance and procurement during 2011-2014.

Hall, a professional engineer, has more than two decades of experience at SCDOT. She began her career there in road design and held various management positions including program manager, district construction engineer in District 3 and district engineering administrator in District 2.
