AASHTO President Paul Trombino has appointed Joseph Olson from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to a two-year term chairing the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program Oversight Committee.
Committee chairs are appointed to two-year terms that end with first association annual meeting after the term has lapsed. That means Olson’s appointment, which is effective immediately but subject to Executive Committee confirmation, will expire at the end of the 2017 annual meeting.
Olson became administrator in August of WisDOT’s Division of Transportation System Development, which oversees the development, maintenance and operations functions of the state trunk highway system. Before that, he was deputy director-regions.
He joined the department in 1989 and spent 16 years as director of the department’s southwest region.
