Louisiana Gov.-Elect Taps LaDOTD Veteran Wilson as Next Transportation Secretary

AASHTO Journal, 18 December 2015

Gov.-elect John Bel Edwards announced that Shawn Wilson, a veteran senior official of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, is his pick to be the state’s next transportation secretary.

Edwards takes office Jan. 11, and has been naming members of his incoming cabinet and other administration officials.

Wilson would follow current Transportation Secretary Sherri LeBas, who was appointed to that position by Gov. Bobby Jindal.

The official announcement noted that Wilson “currently serves as the chief of staff for the Department of Transportation and Development and has served in this capacity under the three previous secretaries and two governors over the past 10 years.”

The Times-Picayune quoted Wilson saying that “there’s not one citizen in this state” who does not benefit from the state’s transportation infrastructure.
