SHRP2 Solutions – Tools for the Road Ahead

Transportation agencies and others looking for information about Performance Specifications for Rapid Renewal (R07) now have access to a new website. Developed through the second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2), Performance Specifications for Rapid Renewal offers implementation guidelines and model performance guide specifications to help agencies get the quality and innovation they are seeking on pavement and structural construction projects.

The R07 website features helpful tools, such as PowerPoint presentations, reports and fact sheets, as well as information about the Implementation Assistance Program (IAP), administered by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and AASHTO.

Developing performance goals for rapid renewal enables transportation agencies to be more innovative in delivering more durable projects faster and with minimum disruptions to the public. This SHRP2 product includes options for both rigid and flexible pavements, as well as options for various project delivery methods. These specifications address project selection, specification development, procurement, and necessary changes to achieve desired performance. Also included is a “how to” section for specification writers.

Additional information about R07 is also available on FHWA’s GoSHRP2 website.
