Senate EPW Leaders Unveil Bill Outline; Funding Remains Uncertain

Sens. Barbara Boxer and James Inhofe released a bipartisan outline Tuesday for the federal surface transportation reauthorization legislation they have dubbed “Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century” (“MAP-21” for short) which includes significant reforms they say will make the nation’s transportation programs more streamlined and efficient. Two state transportation department leaders testified Thursday before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee regarding the outline.Nevada Transportation Director Susan Martinovich, testifying as president of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, thanked committee leaders for advancing a bipartisan reauthorization measure, which they had outlined Tuesday in a press release and three-page fact sheet.
