The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials recently released the 31st edition of “Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials and Methods of Sampling and Testing” (the “Materials Book”) along with its companion publication, the “AASHTO Provisional Standards, 2011 Edition.”
Developed by the AASHTO Subcommittee on Materials, these publications include materials specifications and test methods commonly used in the construction of highways. The Materials Book contains 363 materials specifications, including 75 revised and three new specifications and test methods. The AASHTO Provisional Standards contains 63 provisional standards, including eight revised and 14 new standards.
