Future of Auto Industry & Leveraging Funding Among Topics at Oct. AASHTO Convention

Experts in transportation financing, engineering, and construction will gather Oct. 13-17 in Detroit for the annual meeting of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.With the theme “Leading in Lean Times,” this year’s AASHTO Annual Meeting features technical and transportation policy sessions as well as a collection of educational workshops that focus on innovation and sharing best practices. A few examples include:

Detroit’s innovative approach to rethinking the automobile will be the emphasis in the “The Vehicle of the Future: Greener, Safer, Smarter” session, which will provide information regarding automobile technologies to prevent collisions and reduce emissions, as well as innovative ways to integrate smart-grid technology with electric vehicles. As the auto industry transforms, state transportation officials need to understand what progress is being made and what the impacts may be on infrastructure owners and operators.
