Five Teams Submit proposals for Kentucky Ohio River Bridges Project

LOUISVILLE – Interest is high for contractors vying to build the downtown portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project in Kentucky, with five teams submitting proposals in response to the state Transportation Cabinet’s request for qualification. The winning contracting team will be responsible for building the state’s $1.3 billion portion of the project – a new I-65 bridge, the Indiana approach and reconstruct Spaghetti Junction.

The list of contractors includes: Cross River Constructors LLC, a joint venture of Fluor Enterprises Inc., Acciona Infrastructuras S.A. and The Lane Construction Company; Kentucky Indiana Bridge Partners, a joint venture by Bechtel Infrastructure Corp. and Tutor Perini Corp.; Ohio River Transportation Constructors, a joint venture of Kiewit Infrastructure Co., Evansville-based Traylor Brothers Inc., Kokosing Construction Co. Inc. and Massman Construction Co.; Skanska, Flatiron, Dragados USA; and Walsh Construction Company.

The list of teams will be narrowed to three finalists by a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet by April 16, and the winning team will be announced in October. The schedule calls for construction to begin before the end of the year.
