News and Tribune – April 10, 2012

SOUTHERN INDIANA – The Indiana Finance Authority and the Indiana Department of Transportation announced this week that six teams responded to its request-for-qualifications for the state’s $1.3 billion east-end portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project. Interested companies submitted proposals to design, build, finance, operate and maintain Indiana’s portion of the project, which includes both the Indiana and Kentucky approaches and the bridge.

“The Finance Authority will undertake a thorough review of all responses over the next two weeks and anticipates announcing a short list of proposers on April 23,” said Kendra York, public finance director for the state of Indiana, in a press release. “Short-listed teams will be invited to respond to a final request for proposals that will be due to the Finance Authority in late October.”

The Finance Authority said a preliminary review of responses indicates that responding teams represent both national and international expertise in the design, construction and financing of major public infrastructure projects.

There are exciting things going on with the Ohio River Bridges projects. The new crossings are sorely needed and have been the subject of much study and discussion. We’ll publish the short lists when they are available. TW
