FHWA to Hold Virtual Summits on Every Day Counts Initiatives

AASHTO Journal, 22 March 2013

The Federal Highway Administration next month will host a series of Every Day Counts (EDC) virtual online summits focused on its second phase of initiatives.

The Every Day Counts initiative is designed to identify and deploy innovation aimed at reducing the time it takes to deliver highway projects, enhance safety, and protect the environment. A series of webinars held last fall focused on details of the new surface transportation bill, MAP-21, and the EDC2 initiatives related to shortening project delivery. The upcoming webinars will focus on initiatives related to planning, environment, safety, and mobility. A description of each of the initiatives is available on the EDC website.

The interactive, online event will give participants the tools to bring advanced business practices and 21st century solutions to their organizations while also providing an opportunity to collaborate with peers and technology leaders across the country.

The virtual summits will be held at various dates and times during the beginning of April. The final five EDC2 initiatives that will be covered in the virtual summits are: High Friction Surface Treatments (April 4 and 11), Intersection and Interchange Geometrics (April 4 and 11), Geo-spacial Data Collaboration (April 3 and 10), Implementing Quality Environmental Documentation (April 3 and 11), and the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2) tool National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training (April 4 and 9).
