TRB to Host Webinar on SHRP2 Renewal Product

AASHTO Journal, 3 May 2013

The Transportation Research Board recently announced it will host a webinar next week on Strategic Highway Research Program 2 (SHRP2) renewal project New Strategies for Managing Complex Projects (R10). The webinar is the first in the new SHRP2 Tuesdays Webinar Series, which features a new SHRP2 product and implementation tips every other Tuesday (see related AASHTO Journal story here).

Participants in the webinar will receive a brief overview of SHRP2, the objects of SHRP2’s Renewal focus area, targeted research for R10, hear about the benefits of R10, discuss product implementation plans and opportunities, and ask questions about the product. Panelists for the webinar include Federal Highway Administration’s Latoya Johnson, Colorado State University’s Kelly Strong, and Iowa State University’s Jennifer Shane.

R10 was developed to help users manage intricate projects from the planning phase all the way through the construction phase, concentrating on cost, schedule, engineering requirements, external influences, and financing. The five-dimensional approach helps to identify issues that should be planned and managed proactively for a smoother implementation.

The webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7 from 2 to 3 p.m. EDT. Registration must be completed in advance of the webinar, and Professional Development Hours will be provided to registered attendees.

TRB administers the SHRP2 program under a memorandum of understanding with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the Federal Highway Administration.

Registration information on the webinar is available here. Additional information on SHRP2 can be found at SHRP2.transportation.org.
