Church Officially Takes Reins as New Mexico DOT Cabinet Secretary

AASHTO Journal, 21 February 2014

More than a year after New Mexico Department of Transportation Cabinet Secretary Alvin Dominguez retired in December 2012, Interim Cabinet Secretary Tom Church was confirmed by the New Mexico State Senate to officially serve as NMDOT leader. Church has been managing the department since Dominguez’s departure and was named as Governor Susan Martinez’s choice to fill the position permanently in April 2013 (see related AASHTO Journal story here).

Church has been with NMDOT for more than 20 years, serving in a variety of positions including chief of staff, deputy secretary of business and financial operations, deputy director of administrative services, and quality management bureau chief.

“Secretary Church has demonstrated his knowledge and expertise in the transportation field for more than two decades at the New Mexico Department of Transportation,” Martinez said in a statement. “I look forward to his continued leadership in keeping New Mexico’s transportation infrastructure safe and efficient for all New Mexicans while providing the capacity to support economic growth and development.”
