Massachusetts Replacing Interstate 93 Bridges Using Expedited Method

Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez visited the Boston area last week to get an up-close look at innovative state project delivery. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is replacing 14 bridges this summer as part of its Interstate 93 FAST 14 Project.MassDOT is building the new bridges in sections off-site and installing them during limited 55-hour periods each weekend this summer, minimizing the impact on the traveling public. The $98 million FAST 14 project is supported by a $1 million grant from the Federal Highway Administration’s Highways for Life program, $76 million in other federal funds, and $21 million in state funds.
