FHWA Innovations Web Conference on Bridge Preservation Takes Place March 15

The Federal Highway Administration’s National Highway Institute will hold a webinar from 2:30 to 4 p.m. EST March 15 to review methods for adopting and implementing systematic processes for bridge preservation as an integral component of the overall management of a state’s bridge assets.This webinar is based on FHWA’s “Bridge Preservation Guide — Maintaining a State of Good Repair Using Cost Effective Investment Strategies.” Presenters will share timely and cost-effective preservation practices to assures bridges’ structural integrity that will extend their useful life before replacement is required.

Myint Lwin, director of FHWA’s Office of Bridge Technology, will moderate the panel. Speakers include:

  • Anwar Ahmad, bridge preservation engineer, FHWA Office of Bridge Technology;
  • George Hearn, associate professor, University of Colorado-Boulder; and
  • Adam Matteo, assistant state structures and bridge engineer, Virginia Department of Transportation.
