TRB Announces SHRP2 Webinar on Incorporation of Travel Time Reliability into the Highway Capacity Manual Project

AASHTO Journal, 11 October 2013

The Transportation Research Board will host a webinar next month on the second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2) project “Incorporation of Travel Time Reliability into the Highway Capacity Manual (L08).”

Those participating in the webinar on L08 will learn how data and information on the impacts of differing causes of non-recurrent congestion (for instance, weather and incidents) can be incorporated into the performance measure estimation procedures contained in the Highway Capacity Manual; understand how to predict delay, speed, and queuing that is sensitive to traffic management techniques and other operational and design measures; become familiar with how to predict travel time reliability on freeway and urban street facilities; learn how to address freeway and urban streets in a corridor context; and hear proposed updates to the Highway Capacity Manual that were developed in this project.

Gummada Murthy, associate program director for operations at the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, is among the presenters. Also presenting are Jim Hunt of the Federal Highway Administration and Mark Vandehey of Kittelson & Associations, Inc. TRB’s Bill Hyman will moderate the discussion.

The free webinar will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 2-3:30 p.m. EST. Additional information on the webinar, including registration details, is available here. Further information on the SHRP2 program can be found at SHRP2.transportation.org.
