For the 17th IRF World Meeting, November 10-14, 2013 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)

For decades, the World Road Association (PIARC) and the International Road Federation (IRF), have been collaborating on the occasion of the world conferences organized by each of the two organizations. This tradition is perpetuated with the next event of the IRF.

At the invitation of the Chairman of the IRF, Mr. Abdullah Al-Mogbel, mayor of Riyadh, the President of PIARC, Oscar de Buen will chair the ministerial session which will deal with infrastructure financing and participation of the private sector.

Three sessions are also co-organized between PIARC and the IRF.

A plenary session will focus on Procurement and delivery of projects dealing more particularly with the integration of risk in contracts and ethics. A second session will deal with the Management of road assets by addressing new approaches and trends. Both sessions will be co-chaired by the Secretary General of PIARC, Jean-François Corté. Interventions are planned by several PIARC members during these sessions.

A third technical session will be devoted to Safety in construction and operations of road tunnels. This session was prepared by Pierre Schmitz, past-Chairman of the PIARC Technical Committee on Road Tunnel Operations. It will include a presentation of the PIARCelectronic Manual on Road tunnels.
