TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Synthesis Program has issued a request for letters of interest to document and summarize current practices for training maintenance workers. For this study, training includes all of the steps that a transportation agency takes to ensure that its maintenance workers are safe, efficient and effective when carrying out their various tasks. The synthesis will address training as well as certification. To the extent possible, the synthesis will determine the rationale behind requiring certification when it is required.
