Research Pays Off: Pavement Recycling – An Effective Reuse of Resources

The latest edition of Research Pays Off examines how the Virginia Department of Transportation addressed highway pavement deterioration using recycled materials. The techniques involved a series of processes to reuse materials from the asphalt pavement during rehabilitation or reconstruction. The benefits included reductions in the consumption of raw materials, in the greenhouse gas emissions, and in the costs of preservation, maintenance, and rehabilitation.
