A Bridge Management System (BMS) is a tool that permits the implementation of strategies to maintain, repair and/or re-operate the largest structures of a highway system.
The benefit of implementing a BMS is being able to establish the status and the diagnosis of the physical condition of bridges in sufficient time in order to implement the necessary maintenance works. Preventive maintenance can extend the useful lives of these structures at a lower cost. Timely detection of structural and service deficiencies through inspection resulting from obstacles passed or other effects allow quick diagnoses and effective treatment, which result in important savings in maintenance budgets or the replacement of existing structures deficiencies.
